Attracting the next generation of geoscientists and engineers

26/05/2022

Neptune Energy recently welcomed students from the Department of Applied Earth Sciences at the Delft University of Technology in our offices in Aberdeen. They were visiting Scotland to understand what it's like to work in the energy industry and find out more about what we do at Neptune.

MSc graduate of the University and our Director of Subsurface UK, Wiens van Zeil, said:
"The students walked away understanding where Neptune is today and what the strategic outlook is for the next decade to go beyond net zero. Overall a very positive and interactive workshop held with the students from Delft University of Technology."

KeyFacts Energy University Sponsorship

In response to the challenge of recruiting new talent into the energy sector, KeyFacts Energy has launched an initiative to help university students gain a valuable insight into the industry from a global perspective by providing unrestricted access to our online resource.

This will provide an important insight into the oil and gas and renewable energy sectors and promotes awareness of the global energy industry among the next generation of geoscientists and engineers.

The scheme offers graduates an important ‘non-technical’ insight into the global energy sector and promotes awareness of this exciting industry among the next generation of geoscientists and engineers.

Energy Country Review

The Energy Country Review database is an ideal resource for monitoring global upstream and renewable energy activity, with instant access to 144 countries and more than 2,600 ‘country- specific’ energy company profiles - all in one, easy access location.

Energy company key data includes description, overview of assets, current and planned operational activity, capex, local and corporate locations, Linkedin ‘People’, news archive and links to career opportunities.

In addition, users have access to a global Energy Industry Directory covering more than 1,300 oil service and renewable energy companies and industry organizations.

Attracting and developing talented geoscience and engineering graduates is essential to ensure a viable and sustainable energy workforce for the future as the industry negotiates the Energy Transition.

Feedback suggests that although well qualified and technically proficient when leaving university, post-graduate students often have limited knowledge about the industry they are joining. Regular access to ‘Energy Country Review’ will provide a well-rounded and ongoing overview of companies, news and key operational data together with an opportunity to identify and research potential employers.

Companies who currently sponsor university access to KeyFacts Energy include: Hartshead Resources, Progressive TSL, PetroTrace, Amplus Energy, Geologica and Flare Solutions.
