Belemaoil Commences Gas Utilization Project to Unlock and Harness the Natural Gas Potential in OML 55

05/02/2019

In line with Belemaoil's corporate objective to increase the streams of income for the NNPC/Belemaoil JV, the management of Belemaoil has commenced the OML55 Gas Development Project which intends to unlock the gas potential in the OML 55 field. This project is divided into two phases; Short-Term and the Long-Term Phase. The short-term phase intends to utilize about 20 MMSCFD of the flared gas in Robertkiri, Idama and Inda Platforms. This will enable us to be compliant with the Federal Government Flaredown Policy by the end of the year 2019. The Long-Term Phase intends to deliver about 120 MMSCFD into the domestic market with expected first gas in the first quarter of 2021. This phase will involve drilling of New NAG wells, Gas Cap blowdown, installation of New Gas Treatment Systems and Export pipeline.

Belemaoil target is to deliver about 120 MMSCFD into the domestic market in the long-term phase of the project. This project is currently captured under the 7 Critical Gas Development Projects which is fully supported and driven by the Federal Government Nigeria. The Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) intend to collaborate with its joint venture partners to increase the amount of gas available to Nigeria’s domestic economy in 2020 to about five billion standard cubic feet per day (5bscf/d) from the current 1.3bscf/d (2017). Belemaoil remains committed to working with the Federal Government of Nigeria to increase gas supply to the domestic market.
