OGS backs the first measurement standard for LNG

04/11/2020

The creation of the world's first measurement standard for LNG is an important milestone for VSL. At the same time, a large number of partners worldwide have contributed to the development of the standard: with knowledge, materials and/or a financial contribution.

OGS joined the LNG calibration project in 2013 and supported the design and development of the world's first cryogenic research and calibration facility. In addition to engineering and modeling support, OGS has contributed to the construction, supervision and commissioning phases.

OGS is proud to be part of this unique project, which introduces a world-class LNG calibration and research center and provides accurate LNG measurement with traceability to national standards. VSL's facility provides reliable measurement of LNG in a variety of applications, including sea and rail transport, industrial fuel and other similar areas.

OGS fully supports increased transparency between buyers and sellers of LNG, which will stimulate the global use of LNG and create an open market for LNG trading.

VSL is the National Metrology Institute of the Netherlands, appointed by the Dutch government to maintain and develop the national measurement standards. VSL makes measurement results for companies, laboratories and organizations directly traceable to international standards. VSL makes an important contribution towards the reliability, quality and innovation of products and processes, both in business and society at large.
