RenewableUK announces JV to highlight opportunities in UK and North American markets

04/03/2021

RenewableUK is teaming up with the US organisation the Business Network for Offshore Wind to host joint webinars to showcase opportunities in both rapidly-growing markets.

The Business Network for Offshore Wind is a not-for-profit organisation committed to developing the US offshore wind industry and its supply chain, bringing together renewable energy developers, business leaders, policy makers and academic experts.

On March 24th the Business Network for Offshore Wind will offer RenewableUK members an insight into the US elections and what it means for UK businesses looking to enter the US market. President Biden has committed to doubling US offshore wind generation by 2030. Speakers will include Emily Huggins Jones, a partner at the international law firm Squire Patton Boggs, a Network member organisation, on the administration’s support for offshore wind and how the industry will change over the next four years. Brandon Burke, the Network’s Policy and Outreach Director, will present a US market update and policy insights.

On March 25th RenewableUK will give members of the Business Network insights into the European offshore wind market. The webinar will be introduced by our Deputy CEO Melanie Onn who will also chair the session. It will include an update from our Senior Analyst Bahzad Ayoub on current and future market opportunities from our Project Intelligence database. Our Director of Strategic Communications Luke Clark will present an overview of the political landscape and our Head of Policy and Regulation Rebecca Williams will speak on CfD auctions, market design and avenues to entry.

RenewableUK’s Director of Business Development, Vicky Mant said:
“It’s great to be working closely with our American counterparts at the Business Network for Offshore Wind on behalf of both our memberships.

“As green growth helps all of us to recover economically from the effects of the global pandemic, international collaboration is key to ensure that market information is being exchanged as widely as possible in this exciting period of growth in the UK and US offshore wind sectors.

“We’re looking forward to continuing our fruitful collaboration at events like the Business Network’s annual International Partnering Forum in August and RenewableUK’s Global Offshore Wind event in London in September”.

The Senior Vice President of Collaboration and Communications for the Business Network for Offshore Wind, Lori Rugh, said:
“2021 is an important year for the global offshore wind industry. Offshore wind has proven resilient through the pandemic and is poised for significant growth as economies turn to greener, affordable forms of energy and job creating industries. The Network looks forward to our continuing partnership with RenewableUK to facilitate knowledge sharing and networking to grow the industry and its supply chain”.
