National win for expert consultants Opergy with ORE Catapult

24/06/2021

Following the expert consultancy’s huge success as advisor for the Offshore Renewable Energy (ORE) Catapult’s Fit 4 Offshore Renewables (F4OR) New Anglia cohort, Opergy are set to continue to share their unparalleled expertise in the renewable energy sector to the supply chain across the UK.

Opergy, who began delivering the sector specific support for the F4OR New Anglia programme in April 2021, have been chosen as the sector specific advisor for both the F4OR NorthEast Scotland and North East England programmes. Alongside this, the consultancy is the framework holder for future F4OR sector specific programme delivery.

Designed by ORE Catapult and based on the successful Fit 4 Nuclear programme, delivered by the Nuclear AMRC, the programme aims to grow the UK supply chain for a rapidly expanding renewable energy sector and supports companies with business excellence and sector specific knowledge as they enter the offshore renewables supply chain.

With a goal to boost the regional supply chain for offshore wind, Opergy will advise businesses across the North East of Scotland as well as the North of Tyne and North East of England region in several areas including sector knowledge, sector specific HSE, technical risk management and more.

The appointment by ORE Catapult recognises Opergy’s deep and unrivalled expertise in the offshore renewable energy sector, alongside its track record in supporting high-growth businesses and assisting businesses in diversifying from their traditional sectors.

Opergy began delivering their services within the F4OR New Anglia programme to a cohort of 15 members beginning their journey in the offshore wind supply chain in 2021.

Commercial Director of Opergy and their lead for delivery of F4OR programmes, Martin Dronfield, said:
“I’m absolutely delighted and quite proud that Opergy have secured three new Fit 4 Offshore Renewables programmes, for the North East of Scotland, in the North East of England and as the Framework Holder for future Fit 4 Offshore Renewables programme delivery.”

“The award cements our relationship with ORE Catapult as well as the wider offshore wind industry, highlighting our ability to provide both a significant depth of knowledge in offshore wind and a breadth of geographic coverage from the North of Scotland to the South of England,” he continued.

“It also gives Opergy the opportunity to formally bring into the Fit 4 Offshore Renewables delivery team two new associate consultants and accordingly it’s with some pleasure that I welcome Isla Robb and her company EC20 Limited and Alan Duncan and his company Scotia Supply Chain Limited to our team, their depth of experience in offshore wind can only enhance the work we do with the industry.”

Johnathan Reynolds, Opergy Managing Director, added:
“These awards further demonstrate how Opergy is positioning itself as the go-to development consultancy for the offshore renewables supply chain.”

“We have a desire to help UK companies grow, and we believe this has been reflected by ORE Catapult's decision to select us to deliver their programmes. Our deep understanding of the offshore renewables sector, together with our passion for UK supply chain growth, means that our new friends in the industry cohorts coming onto these programmes can be assured of our commitment to their development. We look forward to working with them all,” he concluded.

Andrew Stormonth-Darling, ORE Catapult's F4OR Programme Manager, added:
"Opergy's breadth of experience in offshore renewables and in supporting the UK's offshore wind supply chain makes them the ideal partner to help deliver our flagship supply chain growth programme. We look forward to working with them going forward to get many more UK companies Fit for Offshore Renewables."
