Pertamina, through its subsidiary, PT Pertamina Hulu Rokan, is now officially managing the Rokan Working Area (Blok Rokan) and has prepared an extensive drilling campaign.

Pertamina is committed to maintaining production after management transfer by carrying predetermined drilling in August - December 2021 as many as 161 wells consisting of 84 new wells and 77 ex-Chevron wells. In 2022 it is planned that there will be an additional 500 wells.

"Pertamina will continue the program that has been running so far, including Enhanced Oil Recovery (EOR), which has significantly supported oil and gas production. Pertamina has set an investment budget until 2025 of more than USD 2 billion. Considering the Rokan Block area also has unconventional potential oil and gas that can support the increase in national oil and gas production," said Nicke Widyawati, President Director of PT Pertamina (Persero), during the handover of management from CPI to PHR.

Based on current data, Pertamina Hulu Rokan manages a working area of ​​approximately 6,453 km2 with 10 main fields, namely Minas, Duri, Bangko, Bekasap, Balam South, Kotabatak, Farmers, Pematang, Petapahan, Pager. The Rokan Block stretches across 5 (five) regencies in Riau Province, namely Bengkalis, Siak, Kampar, Rokan Hulu, and Rokan Hilir. This strategic oil block is Indonesia's second-biggest, with a 2021 oil production target of about 165,000 barrels per day, or around 24% of the country's total.

Nicke emphasized that Pertamina will ensure that the RokanBlock operational process continues because 291 contracts have been mirrored, and all have been completed. In addition, 60 new contracts for pre-EOC needs have been awarded 100% progress status.

"We will continue our effort for Indonesia. Hopefully, the cooperation and friendship that has been well established so far will continue in the future. We believe that with the spirit of synergy and collaboration, all challenges can be conquered so that the Rokan Block which has been entrusted to Pertamina can be managed optimally for the sake of energy security for our beloved country," said Nicke.
