01/10/2021

Vestas has secured a 59 MW order for two projects with Japanese wind power developer, Eurus Energy Holdings Corporation. The order includes supply and supervision of installation of 14 V117-4.2 MW wind turbines for the 21 MW Tabito and 38 MW Sandaimyojin wind projects, to be located in Fukushima prefecture, Japan.

Vestas will also deliver a multi-year Active Output Management 4000 (AOM 4000) service agreement for the wind farm, providing a time-based availability guarantee to ensure optimised performance and long-term business case certainty for the customer.

Delivery of the turbines for Tabito project will begin in the third quarter of 2022, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2023. The delivery for Sandaimyojin project will begin in the second quarter of 2023, with commissioning planned for the first quarter of 2024.

Vestas has also signed a new agreement with Casa dos Ventos for a 189 MW wind project in Rio Grande do Norte, Brazil. As the fifth contract between the companies, the order takes the cooperation to surpass the 1.7 GW mark and highlights Casa dos Ventos' position as Vestas' largest customer in Latin America and one of the largest investors in the development of wind projects in      the country.

The order includes 42 V150-4.2 MW wind turbines delivered in 4.5 MW Power Optimised Mode as well as a 20-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM 5000) service contract, optimising the energy production for the lifetime of the project.

“We are happy with the long-term partnership with Casa dos Ventos. Vestas is ready to drive the energy transition forward in Brazil, a country with enormous wind potential and one that embraces renewable energies like no one else. It is our mission to increasingly expand the share of wind energy in the Brazilian energy mix, and this new agreement is another step in the right direction”, says Eduardo Ricotta, President of Vestas Latin America.

The project’s output will be used by Casa dos Ventos to supply corporate customers with renewable energy through corporate power purchase agreements (PPA).

“This new agreement and the new project reinforce our leading role in supporting corporate customers in their transition to sustainable and low-cost energy consumption”, says Lucas Araripe, director of new business at Casa dos Ventos.

The delivery of wind turbines is planned for the fourth quarter of 2023 and first quarter of 2024, with commissioning scheduled for the second quarter of 2024.

In Italy, Vestas has received a 42 MW order for the repowering of the Monreale Partinico wind park, located in Sicily. The contract includes the supply and installation of ten V136-4.2 MW wind turbines, that will replace the site’s current 19 V52-850 kW turbines. Vestas will also service the wind park through a multi-year Active Output Management 5000 (AOM5000) service agreement.

The order, that has been placed by ERG Wind Energy Srl., a wholly owned subsidiary of ERG S.p.A, a leading independent producer of energy from renewable sources, was awarded at Italy’s sixth renewable energy auction.

“We are happy to partner with ERG, a key company for the development of wind energy in Italy. This order showcases how Vestas’ 4 MW platform offers winning and versatile solutions to our customers in the Italian auctions”, says Francesco Amati, Head of Vestas Italy.

With this project, the Vestas has secured almost 1.4 GW of contracts derived from the renewable energy auctions in Italy, where it has installed more than 4.5 GW since 1991, accounting for a market share of more than 40 percent.Turbine delivery is planned for the third quarter of 2022, whilst commissioning is expected for the last quarter of 2022.
