ConocoPhillips  Submits Tommeliten A Plan for Development and Operation

09/11/2021

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS as operator of the Tommeliten A Unit together with their partners have announced that the plan for development and operation of the Tommeliten A field in the North Sea has been submitted to the Norwegian Ministry of Petroleum and Energy and the UK Oil and Gas Authority.

The Tommeliten A field is primarily a Norwegian development, however, as the field extends into the UK Sector, it is being developed in accordance with the UK and Norwegian authorities’ guidelines for development of trans-boundary oil and gas fields.

The development concept is a two-by-six slot subsea production system (SPS) with ten production wells and an electrically heated flowline, tied into the Ekofisk Complex, including installation of a new processing module. Resource potential for the Tommeliten A field is estimated to be in the range of 80-180 million barrels oil equivalent, mainly comprising gas condensate. The new greenfield facilities will be located about 25 kilometers southwest of the Ekofisk Complex.

Several contracts will be awarded during the project period, estimated to enable approximately 5,000 jobs. Many of the contracts are anticipated to be awarded to Norwegian businesses, creating beneficial ripple effects in local communities. The total capital investment associated with the project is estimated to be approximately NOK 13 billion (USD 1.5 billion gross) and first production is expected in 2024.

“We are pleased to achieve this milestone for the Tommeliten A project. The field development will unlock production of new resources in the area and further strengthen the Ekofisk legacy and future,” said Steinar Våge, ConocoPhillips President Europe, Middle East and North Africa.

ConocoPhillips Skandinavia AS is the operator of the Tommeliten A Unit with a 28.1385 percent ownership interest, while PGNiG Upstream Norway AS (42.1978 %), TotalEnergies EP Norge AS (20.1430 %),Vår Energi AS (9.0907 %), ConocoPhillips (U.K.) Holdings Ltd (0.2109%), TotalEnergies UK Ltd (0.1510%) and ENI UK Ltd (0.0681%) are unit partners.

About Tommeliten A Field

Tommeliten A was discovered in 1977. It is a fractured chalk field containing gas condensate and volatile oil. The field consists of an Ekofisk Formation and a Tor Formation, similar to surrounding fields in the Greater Ekofisk Area. The field is a UK-Norway trans-boundary field as it extends from Norwegian Block 1/9 into UK Block 30/20. The development plan is based on the Norwegian Plan for Development and Operation (PDO).
