Job Alert: RPS - Borehole Seismic Geophysicist

RPS Energy has an opportunity for a Borehole Seismic Geophysicist to join our Site Investigation and Survey team.

RPS is the industry leader in the provision of integrated wellsite geological services to international Oil and Gas clients. Over 200 experienced wellsite geologists, log QC specialists and borehole seismic experts are supplied as individual consultants and within teams to the industry for exploration, appraisal and production well drilling worldwide.

As a trusted advisor, this role entails project management, technical report writing, equipment preparation and business development activities to support VSP (Vertical Seismic Profiling) projects. Some offshore work will also be envisaged from time to time.

The role is full time and can be located in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, Woking or Chepstow.

What you’ll be doing

Generate quotations for existing clients, bid for new work, and liaise with legal and HSSEQ regarding new contracts

Technical support throughout project lifecycle from initial proposal to final delivery of report including financial and resource forecasting, job tracking and invoicing

Maintain existing client relationships with a view to growing the business

  • Schedule appropriate people and equipment for VSP surveys; paying attention to daily drilling lookahead reports to ensure people and equipment are always available
  • Maintain and grow existing consultant relationships; selecting the appropriate consultants for each project according to the requirements (MMO/PAM) and liaise with consultants for same requirements; update consultant CVs and certifications held on file
  • Maintain, check and pack PAM equipment before dispatch to support field VSP operations.
  • Undertake VSP data processing for pre survey modelling, planning and specialist processing
  • Work offshore / onshore to provide VSP QC or MMO / PAM support to clients in the field and provide remote VSP QC support when necessary

Who we’re looking for

  • BSc or MSc in geology / geophysics / earth sciences or other relevant qualification along with  industry experience
  • Good customer / client relationship experience
  • Understanding and working knowledge of wellsite operations, the seismic method and vertical seismic profiling (VSP)
  • Experience of seismic data processing is advantageous
  • Previous technical report writing experience
  • Experience of project management is advantageous
  • Previous offshore experience in the Oil & Gas industry is advantageous
