Phase 3 of UK Energy Integration Project Now Available

07/02/2022

The Energy Integration Project brought together the OGA, BEIS, Ofgem, The Crown Estate and Crown Estate Scotland in a three-year study of energy integration opportunities on the UK Continental Shelf.

The final publication (Phase 3) gives an overview of all that has been achieved in the study and highlights which project partners have worked together to support the practical implementation of energy integration projects.  The project partners have now fully embedded energy integration in their core activities and will continue to work together towards the net zero goal.

Previous findings of the Project (Phases 1 and 2) included that energy integration technologies (offshore electrification, CCS, hydrogen) on the UK Continental Shelf could support, in combination with offshore renewables (wind, wave and tidal) and complementary investments in onshore energy infrastructure, around 60% of the UK’s decarbonisation requirements.
