Significant contract for innovative corrosion specialist

27/06/2022

A leading NDT and corrosion software and inspection company is celebrating a significant new contract award which represents a prominent milestone for its cutting-edge digital solution.

Surface Corrosion Consultants Ltd has joined forces with structural steel giant, Severfield, to integrate the Surface Asset Management™ - SAM™️ - software application across all its business divisions in order to support their move into industry 4.0 and to strengthen their nuclear compliance.

Severfield, the UK’s largest steel fabrication company, has been integrally involved in some of the nation’s most iconic buildings, including The Shard, 22 Bishopsgate, Wimbledon No.1 Court, and Manchester’s Victoria Station.

The scope of work will see Surface provide state of the art software merging with their existing ERP platforms to digitally capture all QA/QC requirements, from steel mill certification, through to fabrication and welding (NDT), and surface preparation and coating processes, all of which flow through tablet and designated workstations. SAM™️ and its simple user interface (UI) will offer full cradle-to-grave monitoring and reporting with immediate information, including progress and productivity tracking. It will culminate in the final “as built” pack being transferrable to any discerning Client’s Operation & Maintenance Manuals.

Commenting on the contract award, Surface Corrosion Consultants’ Managing Director Sean Truesdale said:
“We are delighted to strengthen our long-standing relationship with Severfield plc thanks to this important contract.

“We previously supported a significant amount of their protective and fire protection coating inspections captured on SAM™ and it is great to grow our alliance in step with their evolving needs.  This work represents another important milestone in the journey, and I look forward to seeing the efficiencies of SAM™️ introduced to the Severfield Group.”

Richard Grey (Severfield Nuclear & Infrastructure Operations Director) said:
“We have been working closely with Surface over the past months to tailor the SAM™️ software application to meet the stringent quality assurance requirements of our ongoing and future projects. SAM™️ will not only improve efficiencies within our factories, but also enhance the level of service we can offer to our clients.

“We are live with the software and are extremely encouraged by the results to date. Severfield look forward to the quality and productivity enhancements of SAM™️ and introducing our clients to the benefits this will offer.”
