Students studying energy-related programmes at the University of Aberdeen are set to benefit from new scholarship opportunities.

The new NEO Energy Postgraduate Scholarship Programme will help fund undergraduate and postgraduate study opportunities at the University over the next seven years, benefiting up to 30 students. 

The funding, which provides support for study and other living costs, applies to a broad range of the University’s energy courses, spanning engineering, geosciences, law, business and environment.

Applications are currently being invited for two inaugural postgraduate scholarships as part of the new programme. The scholarships are open to students with Home/UK fee status who are commencing an energy-related postgraduate degree in September.

Meanwhile, the first four undergraduate scholarships will be awarded through the University’s entrance scholarship programme which aims to ensure students can access a university education, whatever their background.

The University’s Interdisciplinary Director for Energy Transition, Professor John Underhill, said: 
“We are delighted to partner with NEO Energy to open up opportunities for postgraduate and undergraduate study across our world-renowned range of energy programmes.

“These scholarships will help to equip the energy leaders of the future with the skills they need to make a real contribution to the energy transition, while also opening up study opportunities for undergraduate students from disadvantaged backgrounds via the University’s entrance scholarship programme.

“We are grateful to NEO Energy for the many opportunities this funding will provide to deserving students over the next eight years, and we look forward to welcoming our first cohort of scholars in September.
