05/11/2022

National Energy Skills Accelerator (NESA) welcomed the Scottish Government’s Minister for Green Skills, Lorna Slater MSP, to the University of Aberdeen campus to discuss the skills needed for, and the NESA’s role in, delivering the Energy Transition, meet the country’s low-carbon targets and net zero emission obligations.

John Underhill, Lorna Slater and Lauren Braidwood (NESA Project Manager)

NESA Chair John Underhill said:
“It’s clear NESA’s objectives align with the Scottish Government’s priorities. The Just Transition Fund project will allow us to deliver courses to help people understand and take advantage of the opportunities to re-and up-skill to face the energy transition. It’s great to have the minister’s support in making NESA’s goals a reality”

Lorna Slater Green Skills Minister said:
“The Climate Emergency requires enormous societal change and it is clear that we must adapt the education and skills system to make it more agile and responsive to our economic needs and ambitions. It is equally important that we attract a new generation of people to forge careers in energy and help accelerate our journey to net zero. There has never been a more exciting time to join an industry in transformation with so much to offer.”
