MTCS and Port Training Services announce training partnership

20/11/2022

A partnership has been agreed upon between Port Training Services, the dedicated training division of the Port of Blyth, and the internationally renowned specialists in competence management and training for personnel in the energy sector, MTCS (UK) Ltd.

The partnership will provide a suite of focussed training programmes to companies and individuals either operating in or aspiring to be part of the offshore energy and renewables, port and marine sectors.

The partnership portfolio will include ROV Induction training programmes for skilled technical individuals looking to transition into the growing offshore sectors from traditional industries, as well as specialist ROV High Voltage and High-Pressure Hydraulics Training, Skills Assessor and Team Leadership programmes for professional personnel currently operational in maritime and associated industries.

Additionally, the partnership will utilise the state-of-the-art facilities at the Port of Blyth as a location for the delivery of a new High Voltage Safety Awareness training course, which will also be open to organisations outside of the maritime and associated industries.

Richard Warburton is Managing Director at MTCS (UK) Ltd:
"The Port of Blyth is leading the way in terms of its capabilities for supporting the UK’s offshore energy, renewables, decommissioning and logistics sectors. Skills are at the heart of their ambition”

"Port Training Services and partners have the goal of helping drive the skills agenda to meet the demands of the industry.  The addition of MTCS specialist provision enhances the already established portfolio of training courses.

"Since forming in 2003, MTCS has delivered courses right around the world in Europe, South America, Africa, the Far East and Australia.” Continues Richard.

"Building upon our global reach, options will be available for delivery via digital platforms so we can offer flexibility to our clients but having state-of-the-art facilities available to facilitate traditional face-to-face learning in an operational environment is essential in developing skilled, competent personnel.

"Richard Warburton concludes:
"MTCS and Port Training Services are very much aligned in terms of the shared vision for personnel working in the many diverse maritime disciplines to be professionally trained, highly skilled and, crucially, competent to undertake these safety-critical activities. We look forward to becoming recognised as an exemplar for training in these specialist activities, not just in the UK but across the international maritime industries.”

Paul Parry, Business Manager at Port Training Services:
"We are delighted to be working in partnership with MTCS (UK) Ltd and welcome them to the Port of Blyth.

"The development of skilled individuals is essential to support the continued growth of the sectors operating offshore both locally and across the globe.  Bringing MTCS in partnership to offer high-profile training in the heart of a major industrial cluster is another step in meeting the demands of the industry.

"Port Training Services continues to evolve and diversify its training portfolio, as well as continuing to work with collaborators and partners to ensure we can support companies and individuals to acquire the necessary skills to develop and progress in the offshore sectors.”
