Global Underwater Hub announces new appointments

09/12/2022

Global Underwater Hub (GUH) has continued to expand its team over the latter half of 2022 with a clutch of new appointments.

The leading trade and industry development body for the UK’s underwater sector has added five new personnel to its workforce.  All will support the continued growth and development of the organisation, which covers offshore wind, oil and gas, defence, aquaculture, telecoms and subsea mining.

L-R: Ian Mclaren, Steve Adams, Morgan Blunt, Steve Fernie, Iain Harold

The most recent appointment is Steve Fernie, who has taken on the newly created role of strategic programme manager.  Steve will ensure that the intelligence offering of the GUH is value-adding and aligned to the requirements and strategy of members, stakeholders and the GUH itself in realising the significant opportunities offered by the blue economy. He’ll also be increasing the capabilities of SubseaIntel, GUH’s market intelligence platform.

Morgan Blunt and Iain Harold are supporting delivery of the organisation’s expanded events portfolio.  Morgan, a recent graduate of Robert Gordon University, joins GUH as assistant events coordinator, supporting the planning and delivery of a range of events.  Taking on the role of audio-visual technician, Iain Harold brings a wealth of experience to the post, having spent over 30 years in similar roles in the education, medical, broadcasting and corporate sectors.

Steve Adams was appointed as membership development manager earlier this year and is responsible for working with members to maximise the opportunities available to them through their GUH membership.  He is also working to widen the organisation’s membership base across the UK.

With nearly 20 years’ experience in marketing, public relations and events, Ian McLaren joined GUH as communications and marketing lead, supporting its internal and external communications activities.
