- 25MW London Road Solar Farm, Northamptonshire
- Tenth renewable energy project consent this year
- Consented portfolio of projects now stands at 405MW
North Northamptonshire Council has given the go ahead for a 25MW solar farm, in Irchester, Wellingborough, securing home grown energy for over 7000 UK homes.
London Road Solar Farm was approved by the Council on the 8th November 2022 resulting in the tenth project approval for Renewable Connections this year, its twelfth project consent overall.
The project has been developed in partnership with Helio and once operational will have a lifespan of up to forty years.
John Leith, Development Director at Renewable Connections said:
“We are delighted to have achieved our tenth project consent this year. This July saw the UK’s hottest day on record, and one of the most intense and prolonged heatwaves we’ve experienced, a phenomenon which would not be happening without climate change. Solar is one of the cleanest, lowest cost forms of energy available that can be quickly deployed. Councils such as North Northamptonshire are recognising this and showing a real commitment to delivering on their own ambitious climate change targets. London Road Solar Farm will make a meaningful contribution to these targets, delivering clean energy for over 7000 homes.”
London Road Solar Farm will be located 150 metres from the western edge of the village of Irchester, and will include landscaping and ecological enhancements, including hedgerow planting and new habitat creation, improving the biodiversity of the site.
