Intrepid Hires Energy Acquisitions & Divestitures Team

02/10/2018

Intrepid Financial Partners is pleased to announce the hiring of an Acquisitions & Divestitures (“A&D”) team based in Houston, Texas. The newly formed group will sit within Intrepid’s successful Advisory business and be dedicated to A&D advisory and transaction execution for the firm’s energy clients. The A&D team adds expanded technical, engineering and geological expertise to Intrepid’s suite of Advisory services. They will work closely with Intrepid’s existing energy bankers.

The A&D team will be led by Antonio (“Tony”) Fernandez, who joins Intrepid as a Managing Director. Tony is an industry veteran and was most recently a senior A&D banker at JP Morgan, where he led numerous teams and successful A&D projects across most major U.S. unconventional plays. Prior to that, Tony was at Jefferies Group where he was critical to the development of their industry-leading Permian technical expertise. Before banking, Tony held numerous engineering roles at Noble Energy in the company’s domestic onshore, international deepwater, and Business Development teams. He holds a Master’s degree of Engineering in Petroleum Engineering from Texas A&M University, a Bachelor’s degree from Duke University, and is a registered Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.

“We are incredibly excited to welcome Tony to the Intrepid team,” said Skip McGee, co-Founder and CEO of Intrepid. “He is an accomplished A&D banker who brings with him substantial technical and execution expertise that will help us continue to deliver the best advice and suite of services for our clients.”

Intrepid has also added Robert Willis and Stevenson Bunn to the A&D Team, both of whom join from Apache Corporation. At Apache, Robert was most recently a reservoir engineer and Stevenson was a Geologist. Both have held a variety of engineering and geology roles at Apache and bring with them extensive backgrounds in their respective fields.

“As we thought through how to expand our business, adding dedicated A&D capabilities was a logical next step for Intrepid,” said Christopher Winchenbaugh, co-Founder and President of Intrepid. “The creation of a center of excellence focused exclusively on asset-level transactions will be a nice complement to our best-in-class corporate and strategic advisory business. I look forward to having Tony, Robert and Stevenson on the team.”
