Gael Energy Forms Strategic Alliance With Dutch Renewables Maintenance Operator

09/05/2023

Leading Scottish wind energy operations and maintenance specialist, Gael Energy has signed a Memorandum of Agreement with Netherlands-based Rengineers that will see the companies expand their capabilities in the lucrative operations and maintenance (O&M) market, servicing the vast UK network of onshore wind turbines across a range of different technologies.

The strategic alliance will see North of Scotland-based Gael Energy support Rengineers in the roll out of their unique, insurance-backed ‘Garant’ maintenance contract to wind farm operators across the country. Rengineers’ groundbreaking Garant contract ensures that all conceivable costs associated wind turbine maintenance are covered by an annual fixed fee with loss of earnings for operators compensated in full beyond a 48 hour shut down period.

Speaking about inking the landmark agreement, Gael Energy Managing Director, Hamish Campbell, said:
“This exciting new relationship with this likeminded and well respected company allows us to improve the service we deliver and, critically, allows us to expand the scope of our multibrand capabilities with a highly desirable contract and service. With long term service and support contracts on many of the current generation of wind turbines coming to an end, it’s a market that has huge potential for us. We have already signed contracts with two new clients in the first week of the Rengineers agreement.

“The Garant contract will initially be rolled out in Scotland supported by Gael Energy from our three nationwide service bases, in Aberdeenshire, Dumfries and Evanton. The combination of Gael Energy’s coverage, expertise, existing relationships with landowners and three operational bases, with Rengineers’ vast experience and parts, software and technical capabilities - not to mention their scale - will give us a huge advantage in this growing market.”

Gerhard de Pater, International Sales Manager at Rengineers, commented:
“Our partnership with Gael Energy allows us to fast track the delivery of our revolutionary ‘Garant’ contract to UK shores. We are delighted to have discovered a company who shares our underlying value of delivering for the customer. We look forward to building on this already great relationship and are very happy to see progress being made in such a small timeframe.”

Jobs boost

Currently employing 20 people, the agreement with Rengineers is expected to create up to 15 new jobs at Gael Energy in the coming months, including experienced engineers and apprentices.

Founded in 2015, Gael Energy is a leading provider of high quality engineering services - including wind turbine installation and upgrades, routine maintenance, remote monitoring, and inspection & testing. With a number of large Scottish landowners among its client list, the company currently maintains over 300 400 wind turbines nationwide. In 2022, the company moved into a new 3500 sq.ft facility near Invergordon on the Cromarty Firth.

Gael Energy will officially launch its partnership with Rengineers at The Royal Highland Show - Scotland’s largest agricultural show, attended by many of the country’s largest landowners - at Ingliston in Edinburgh from Thur 22 - Sun 25 June 2023.
