Business Event to Explore One of World’s Fastest Growing Economies

Guyana’s transformational growth and position as one of the world’s fastest growing economies following the development of major oil and gas reserves will be the focus of a major business event in Aberdeen next week.

Hosted by Aberdeen-based Granite PR, the Aberdeen-Guyana Gateway will return to its traditional in-person format with the centrepiece lunch taking place on Tuesday, June 20th at the city’s Marcliffe Hotel & Spa for the first time, after operating as a fully digital offering during the pandemic.

The visiting delegation will be led by Jane Miller OBE (British High Commissioner to Guyana, Non-resident Ambassador to Suriname and Ambassador CARICOM) and also represented will be a range of organisations which can offering insight and experience in the Guyana market, including the Guyana Ministry of Natural Resources, Georgetown Chamber of Commerce & Industry, GO-Invest Guyana and the British Chamber of Commerce Guyana.

In addition will be a selection of presentations from companies sharing their experiences of operating in the two locations, including case studies from 3t EnerMech and XL Group.

The event will be chaired by the RT Hon Lord Bruce of Bennachie (pictured above), Chair of the Caribbean Council and a former Aberdeenshire MP for more than 30 years. He commented: “Guyana is one of the fastest growing economies in the world. The Government of Guyana is determined to ensure the revenues from oil production are used to diversify the economy with investment in infrastructure, transport and communication, agriculture and food production, and tourism.

“The Caribbean Council has worked with the UK and Guyana High Commissions to strengthen connections having organised two trade missions with a third planned for July.”

He added: “The Aberdeen-Guyana Gateway is a great opportunity to get first-hand up-to-date information on these exciting developments.”
