Lukoil chairman dies suddenly at the age of 66

24/10/2023

Lukoil chairman Vladimir Nekrasov has died suddenly at the age of 66 after suffering acute heart failure.

Russian state media said the “preliminary” conclusions of doctors was that Nekrasov suffered “acute heart failure” and died at his home in Moscow.

Nekrasov's death follows that of tycoon Ravil Maganov, the previous head of Lukoil's board, 67, who fell from a window of Moscow’s elite Central Clinical Hospital, also known as the Kremlin clinic, in September last year.

Several Russian businessmen, most with ties to the energy industry, have died suddenly in unclear circumstances in the months following the start of what Moscow calls its special military operation in Ukraine in February 2022.
