Glacier Energy came out on top as the winners of charity football event, Business Fives in Aberdeen last month. Business Fives, a corporate five-aside football events company hosts events up and down the UK with the aim of helping to increase the positive social impact on communities and is already over halfway to achieving their goal of donating £1 million to charity.

Glacier Energy was amongst 22 other participating companies competing to win the Business Fives title whilst collectively raising a total of £7,436 for various local and national charities.

It was a successful day for the Glacier Energy team, coming out on top as Champions League winners after defeating several companies throughout the tournament. Additionally, following an excellent fundraising effort, the team were awarded top fundraisers of the day raising an impressive total of £2,050 for their chosen charity Sistema Scotland and their ‘Big Noise Torry’ programme, which was further enhanced by £350 donation from Business Fives.

Glacier Energy’s chosen charity, Sistema Scotland targets the most disadvantaged communities through ‘Big Noise’ programs in order to support children and young people realise their potential by developing lifeskills through the challenges and rewards of learning to play an instrument in an orchestra.

One community that Sistema Scotland targets with their Big Noise Programme is Torry in Aberdeen, which is not only one of the most disadvantaged areas in Aberdeen but the whole of Scotland. Due to the Business Fives event taking place in Aberdeen and Torry being on the doorstep of Glacier Energy’s Aberdeen facility, the team decided to donate the cash to Big Noise Torry to help improve the lives of the young people in the local community.

The Big Noise Torry team currently work with over 800 children and young people in Torry from babies to around children aged 14 years providing a high quality, long term and immersive programme which helps improve academic outcomes, lift aspirations and acquire vital social and life skills.
