Silixa secures UK North Sea CO2 project contract from Perenco

21/12/2023

Perenco UK, an independent E&P and Operator of CCS license CS009 in UK Southern North Sea, has awarded Silixa a contract to provide its market leading distributed acoustic sensing system to monitor CO2 injection into the depleted Leman reservoir.

This equipment will be run on an injection test pilot well and is purposed to provide an intervention-free solution to monitor several downhole determining parameters, during an industrial-scale CO2 injection test on the Leman field, currently being prepared for the end of 2024.

Aimed to redevelop the Leman field as a large-scale CCS store, the Poseidon project has the potential to significantly decarbonise East Anglia and the wider southeast UK by offering a permanent store of recovered CO2 from industrial emissions in the depleted gas reservoirs and saline aquifers of the Leman mature gas field.

“Reducing carbon emissions at a global scale is a major challenge and to reach a net-zero carbon economy will not be possible without carbon capture and storage,” said Glynn Williams, Silixa’s CEO.

“We are proud to be contributing to meet net zero targets by providing our cutting-edge technology on this UK front-runner project, helping the industry to turn safe and economically viable, both offshore and on land.”
