Exprodat releases enhanced version of its Exploration Analyst software

28/01/2024

Exprodat, the energy sector GIS specialist and Getech Group company, has released an enhanced version of its Exploration Analyst software, used by energy and mining companies to help identify new locations of petroleum, minerals, carbon storage and geothermal resources.

At version 3.1, Exploration Analyst, an extension to Esri’s powerful desktop GIS application ArcGIS Pro, provides a host of capabilities for geologists and geoscientists to make better exploration decisions by improving their understanding of geologic risk and uncertainty.

Building on the functionality of previous versions, Exploration Analyst v3.1 includes the key capabilities to customise exploration maps on the fly and easily re-run analyses at the click of a button – a common business challenge for natural resources explorers when new data becomes available. These customisation options allow easy replication and standardisation, greatly increasing communication insights.

Enhancing exploration workflows even further, Exploration Analyst v3.1 can incorporate raster (grid) based analyses and automate the creation of raster outputs, eliminating the need to create each one separately. Also new in this release are search and filter functions across the toolset, reducing the user burden when ArcGIS Pro projects contain lots of data.

Exprodat’s GIS Software Product Manager, Richard Webb, details the enhancements within the latest Exploration Analyst release and what they mean for natural resources explorers:

“This latest version of Exploration Analyst for ArcGIS Pro contains important innovations in support of petroleum ‘play based exploration’ and ‘mineral systems targeting’ analysis workflows.

Enhancements to the risk mapping tools provide users with a smoother experience – focussing their thought processes on the geology, rather than the technology – while the incorporation of raster inputs and outputs further expands the software’s flexibility. These features have been designed to streamline processes, freeing up our users time, making them more efficient and so help them make better decisions, faster.”

Exploration Analyst v3.1 has also been designed with performance improvements under-the-hood. Key improvements see new algorithms that improve background processing speeds – enabling the user to work faster, and so improve results through easier iteration.
