Amplus Energy Services announces senior appointments

25/01/2024

L-R - George Geddes (HSEQ Manager), Susan Shanks (Financial Controller) and Steve Gardyne (Managing Director)

Aberdeen-headquartered Amplus Energy Services Ltd has continued its growth trajectory with the announcement of several senior appointments.

The company has appointed Steve Gardyne as Managing Director, with his responsibilities including overseeing new venture Carbon Circle UK, which was formed in November following a major strategic investment in leading Norwegian company Carbon Circle AS.

Elsewhere in the business, George Geddes has been named HSEQ Manager, while Susan Shanks recently took up the post of Financial Controller. Meanwhile, former Managing Director Ian Herd, who originally founded the company, has stepped down from his role to become an Executive Director.

Ian said:
“Steve has made a huge difference since joining the company as General Manager last year, and he has played a critical role in helping shape our plans for the future. I am delighted that his success has been rewarded with this new position and I am certain he will help us go from strength to strength.

“Not only will his promotion bring further success to Amplus and Carbon Circle UK, but I firmly believe all three appointments we are announcing today can be viewed as a statement of intent from the company as we help clients negotiate the energy transition. Our engineering excellence, along with that of our wider supply chain partners, can only be beneficial to those we work with.

“Last year was extremely successful for Amplus and we are determined to build on the progress made across the board. Welcoming Steve, George and Susan into these positions, along with several other strategic appointments that have still to be announced, will help us fully realise the potential we believe the company and its people has.”

The senior appointments follow a string of new starts across the organisation[AG1] [SG2] , including in areas such as supply chain management, project management, subsurface and naval architecture/marine engineering.

Steve said the hiring of new colleagues, along with the acquisition of Carbon Circle, further enhances Amplus Energy’s field development and floating production, storage, and offloading (FPSO) operations and underlines its commitment to being a major contributor to meeting the UK Government’s net zero targets.

He said:
“I’m delighted to have been confirmed as Managing Director, and am proud of the work we have all done in preparing the company for success. Along with George and Susan – and the existing Amplus personnel – we have a strong, experienced leadership team, and I am excited by what we have planned to help the company grow further.

“We will continue to add strategic roles in the coming months and I look forward to welcoming these new team members into the business as we grow and continue to deliver more value to our clients and partners.

“Ian has played a major role in laying the foundations for the company to develop as it has, and I am certain he will continue to be a big part of its future success.

“Amplus is growing quickly, and we are very much looking forward to integrating our colleagues from Carbon Circle into the business, with confirmation of our first full-time senior hire dedicated to Carbon Circle UK expected soon as we prepare to ramp up activity.”

News of the appointments follows Amplus Energy’s announcement in November it was investing a seven-figure sum in innovative Norwegian company Carbon Circle AS to create Carbon Circle UK Limited, which is based in Aberdeen.
