Return of Annual Business Event Creates Gateway to New Sector

15/03/2024

A flagship international business event will expand its focus to include biotechnology when it takes place for the twelfth time later this month.

Plans are well underway for Granite PR’s much anticipated Aberdeen-Houston Gateway which will take place at Norwood Hall Hotel on Tuesday, March 19th.  Since its inception, the event has forged a strong reputation for quality transatlantic knowledge sharing and networking with this year’s series of live and remote presentations to be chaired by Jacqui Watt, International Development Manager with Energy Transition Zone.

In an additional area of focus for 2024, Dundee-based Cellexus International Ltd (Cellexus) which pioneers revolutionary, market-leading biotechnology will explain the significance of the American market to its growth plans and illustrate how it has uplevelled its commitment to the US following a string of successes in a key market.

Cellexus has made significant investment in the US market, the biggest for its innovative bioreactors, by ploughing funds into the manufacture of bioreactor bags for its CellMaker system. Working with Vonco Products, LLC has ensured that consumable stock is held in-country for the first time, extending the company’s reach and efficiency.

The move is seen as instrumental in maximising efficient response to a growing number of customer enquiries, particularly from the emerging bacteriophage market, and will act as a springboard towards future growth following the landmark sale of a system to a leading Houston medical centre earlier this year.

Commenting on the company’s inaugural Aberdeen-Houston Gateway presentation, Cellexus CEO Gavin Hands said:
“We have redoubled our efforts to explore additional opportunities in the US by spending more time in country so that we can not only enhance our presence within the market but also grow and consolidate relationships there.

“Events such as the Gateway serve to underpin those efforts, bringing together like-minded businesses and we look forward to contributing to what is shaping up to be an interesting and informative session.”

Granite PR Managing Director and Gateway series creator Brett Jackson added:
“It is crucial that an established event such as this strikes the right balance between the traditional elements and sectors our delegates have come to expect and adding new content that reflects the world in which we operate.

“By welcoming delegates and speakers for the first time and introducing them to many, many Gateway stalwarts we hope that there will be abundant opportunity to create new connections and consolidate existing ones.”

Other speakers at the Aberdeen-Houston Gateway 2024 will include:

  • Graeme Laughton (THREE60 Energy)
  • James Coggs (Scottish Development International)
  • Jordan Low (Scottish Development International)
