As of the beginning of October this year the volume of investments in the implementation of a large-scale project focused on the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor (SGC) reached $ 31.8 billion. The official data was released today by experts of the Azerbaijani operator of the project Canub Qaz Dehlizi.

The press service of the company clarified that the implementation of the project “Stage-2” in the process of developing Shah-Deniz cost $18.2 billion as of the end of September. At the same time, the entire project was previously estimated at $22.7 billion.

$4.3 billion were spent on works aimed at a significant expansion of the South Caucasus Pipeline (the total cost is $4.5 billion), $5.7 billion were spent on the TANAP gas pipeline (a total of $8 billion dollars are to be invested), and TAP took 3.2 billion euros to build (around $3.6 billion with a total value of 4.5 billion euros).

The total amount of funds that were invested in the implementation of this project as of the end of the first month of autumn amounted to $31.8 billion, the press service of the company said.

The CQD data indicate that the implementation of the large-scale project “Stage-2” in the territory of the Shah-Deniz field at the beginning of the previous month reached an indicator of 91.7 percent. The work on the South Caucasus Pipeline was completed by the specified date by 99.5 percent, and the construction of the TANAP (Trans-Anatolian gas pipeline) - by 97.6 percent. The trans-adriatic gas pipeline (TAP) was completed at the beginning of October by 80.7 percent.

The project for the construction of the Southern Gas Corridor envisages, as we reported earlier, pipeline infrastructure that needs to be built in order to transport natural gas to European countries through the Republic of Turkey from the Shah-Deniz field located in the Republic of Azerbaijan. The total cost of this project has exceeded $40 billion.
