Odfjell Oceanwind Named a Top Greentech Company by Time Magazine

06/04/2025

Time Magazine has named Odfjell Oceanwind one of the Top Greentech Companies of 2025. This recognition places us among 250 global companies leading the way in sustainable innovation, and we are especially honoured to be the only specialist in floating offshore wind on the list.

Odfjell Oceanwind is also one of just three Norwegian companies featured, alongside Scatec (solar energy) and NEL (hydrogen). Together, we represent Norway’s strong and growing contribution to the global green energy transition.

This milestone reflects more than technological innovation; it affirms our commitment to a sustainable future, and it recognises the strength of our mission, vision, and values.

Built on Offshore Expertise, Driven by Purpose

Floating offshore wind is one of the most promising frontiers in renewable energy. With the ability to deploy turbines in deeper waters where wind conditions are stronger and more stable, floating wind opens vast new areas for clean energy generation.

At Odfjell Oceanwind, we bring over five decades of offshore experience to this opportunity. Our Deepsea Star™ semi-submersible floater is engineered to operate reliably in all offshore environments, from benign to ultra-harsh, offering a scalable and cost-effective foundation for floating wind power at utility scale.

We are solving complex engineering challenges every day, from adapting floaters for next-generation turbines to improving  the design to make it more suitable for large scale fabrication, transport and installation. We are also focused on driving down the levelized cost of energy (LCOE) through smart design choices and practical innovation. By applying decades of experience from offshore drilling rigs, we’re able to identify efficiencies in areas like hull design, fabrication methods, lifecycle reliability and structural integrity, and logistics, all with the goal of delivering floating wind solutions that are not only effective, but commercially competitive at scale. Each innovation brings us closer to our mission: accelerating the deployment of floating offshore wind to drive the energy transition.

Recognition That Aligns with Our Vision

Time Magazine’s ranking is based on environmental impact, innovation, and financial strength. That Odfjell Oceanwind is recognised alongside the world’s leading greentech companies affirms the strength of our strategy and the commitment of our team.

This recognition aligns closely with our ambition to be a key enabler in the transition to renewable energy by providing leading solutions for floating offshore wind. We aim to be a trusted partner to developers, suppliers, and stakeholders who share our commitment to a net-zero future.

Our Values in Action

Our progress is grounded in our three core values:

  • Commitment: We follow through on our promises and stay focused on delivering results.
  • Trustworthy: We act with integrity and transparency, earning the confidence of our partners.
  • Competence: We rely on the deep expertise of our team to solve real-world challenges and lead with excellence.

These values shape every aspect of how we operate, from technology development to stakeholder collaboration. Our engineers, partners, and shareholders all play a critical role in bringing floating wind to commercial reality.

As we look to the future, we remain focused on scaling solutions that can meet the world’s growing demand for clean energy. This recognition from Time Magazine inspires us to keep pushing forward — with purpose, integrity, and a shared commitment to a more sustainable world.

Thank you to everyone who is part of this journey.
