The North Caspian Consortium marks its twenty-fifth anniversary this year. Its history dates back to the date of signing the Government Resolution dated 13 February 1993 “On Formation and Development of Hydrocarbon Production in the Kazakhstan Sector of the Caspian Sea”. This date has become a kind of benchmark in the development of offshore petroleum operations. North Caspian Operating Company N.V. (NCOC), the Operator of the North Caspian Sea Project, held a series of festive events in Bautino Port and in Fort-Schevchenko, Tupkaragan District, dedicated to the anniversary of the North Caspian Project and also the twentieth anniversary of the Bautino Offshore Supply Base.
Celebrations dedicated to the twenty-fifth anniversary of the North Caspian Project and the twentieth anniversary of the Bautino Offshore Supply Base started with awarding letters of recognition and gratitude to outstanding employees and veterans of the Kashagan Project. NCOC Managing Director Bruno Jardin addressed the personnel of the North Caspian Consortium, representatives of Mangystau Oblast Akimat, NGOs and local community. In his speech he stated that "Exactly 20 years ago the Bautino Base started functioning as a major logistics hub for the North Caspian project to support construction, drilling, production operations offshore and gather wastes for further processing and utilization. Approximately 1.2 million tons of cargo were handled and transported in total over this time". He thanked colleagues and veterans for their contribution to the successful development of the North Caspian Project and emphasized that the Bautino Base hit highs in safety - more than 6 years or about 10 million man-hours LTI free – with painstaking efforts of each worker. As outlined by Zhakyp Marabayev, NCOC Deputy Managing Director, to date, the North Caspian Consortium is one of the leaders in local content development in Kazakhstan and the enterprise that makes the greatest contribution to the social and economic development of regions where the production operations are centered».
It should be noted that NCOC is one the largest corporate social investors in Kazakhstan allocating funds for the development of Mangystau Oblast and Tupkaragan District in particular. Over 20 years of operation in this region the Company has implemented 31 Social and Infrastructure Projects including the construction of schools, kindergartens, sports facilities and municipal apartments, gas supply lines to villages and healthcare facilities. Also, since the establishment of the Bautino Base back in 1998, the North Caspian Consortium has allocated about $ 8.5 million to Sponsorship and Donation projects in Mangystau Oblast.
The events further continued with a tree planting campaign at the Bautino Base and the ceremonial opening of the namesake museum. Company employees also enjoyed sports games. NCOC organized a gala concert featuring Kazakhstan music stars in the central square of Fort-Shevchenko for all residents and guests of Tupkaragan District in the same evening.
North Caspian Operating Company N.V. (NCOC) acts on behalf of seven members of the Consortium as appointed Operator for exploration and production of hydrocarbons on 11 blocks under the Production Sharing Agreement in respect of the North Caspian Sea as Amended and Supplemented dated 18th November 1997.
