Mermaid Subsea Services (UK) has successfully and safely completed a well intervention on the Teal P2 well in the Central North Sea.
Executed from the Island Valiant vessel, the operation was carried out on behalf of Anasuria Operating Company (AOC), the FPSO Operator for Teal and Teal South, as well as Guillemot A.
Teal P2 is part of the Anasuria Cluster, which is centred on the Anasuria FPSO, located approximately 190 kilometres east of Aberdeen in a water depth of 89 metres.
The primary objective of the intervention was to perform a scale inhibitor treatment on the well, which lies about 4km north-east of the FPSO.
The scale squeeze treatment was designed to safeguard production flow and maintain well integrity for at least the next three years.
The operation demonstrated Mermaid’s growing capability in complex subsea operations and the company’s ability to interface seamlessly with multiple vendors.
For Anasuria, the well intervention contributes to the long-term production performance of the Teal asset, bolstering the UK’s security of energy supply.
Scott Cormack, Regional Director for Mermaid Subsea Services (UK), said:
“This successful and efficient well intervention on Teal P2 highlights our expanding capabilities and ability to deliver complex subsea operations, be they in decommissioning or asset lifetime extension.
“To safely execute the project with a positive outcome on the primary objectives, while working with Anasuria Operating Company and multiple partners , reflects our commitment to operational excellence and supporting the UK’s long-term energy resilience.”
Tom Reeve, Wells Manager for AOC, said:
“Mermaid, with AOC partners, have delivered a successful result on the Teal asset, helping to protect long-term production and build a relationship for future works.”
Mermaid kicked off another operational season in the North Sea in April, delivering specialist support for well plug & abandonment (P&A) activities, as well as Inspection, Repair & Maintenance (IRM) campaigns.
For a second consecutive year Mermaid will be carrying out operations using the Island Valiant, a proven and versatile subsea support vessel well-suited for complex North Sea conditions, after a charter agreement was signed last year.
Despite having a strong pipeline of work throughout the course of 2025, there is still some vessel availability for additional work scopes. The Island Valiant will be supported by the introduction of Mermaid’s very own dive vessel, which is due to enter the North Sea market later this year.
Mr Cormack added:
“Mermaid is proud to continue supporting the energy sector in the North Sea and we’re excited that a new operational season is well underway. Our expertise in well decommissioning and asset integrity plays a vital role in safe, compliant, and cost-effective operations, and we look forward to working with clients new and old.
“The Island Valiant has been a reliable workhorse for us, and we’re excited to return with an expert crew, toolkit and solutions that are changing the way the basin operates.”
