ExxonMobil today announced plans to explore oil and gas resources offshore Trinidad and Tobago, marking a new chapter in the company’s operations in the Caribbean region.
The exploration activities will focus on acreage in the deepwater blocks awarded by the Government of Trinidad and Tobago. Preliminary seismic surveys are scheduled to begin later this year, with drilling operations targeted for 2026.
“Trinidad and Tobago has long been recognized as an energy leader in the region, with a strong LNG industry and a proven track record of developing its resources responsibly,” said John Ardill, ExxonMobil’s vice president of global exploration. “We look forward to working closely with the government and local partners to unlock the potential of these blocks in a safe, environmentally responsible manner.”
The initiative is part of ExxonMobil’s broader strategy to expand its exploration portfolio in high-potential basins, leveraging advanced technology and decades of offshore expertise.
ExxonMobil has committed to engaging local suppliers and service providers where feasible and supporting training initiatives to help develop Trinidad and Tobago’s energy workforce.
