Rockflow announces the appointment of Joel Turnbull as Developments Advisor, and Expert Witness, bringing more than 30 years of upstream oil and gas experience across development projects, asset management, subsurface management, reserves, and decision and economic analysis.
Joel has held senior technical and leadership positions with major operators including Tullow Oil, Sasol, Nexen, CNOOC, Total and Fina, working across diverse geographic and geological settings. He has been personally responsible for multiple greenfield and brownfield projects, both facilities-based and wells-based, and has overseen subsurface management of many fields at every stage of the lifecycle.
Most recently, Joel served as Developments Manager at Tullow Oil, leading the Ghana Business Unit’s subsurface and major projects departments. He played a pivotal role in delivering a successful multi-year rig campaign that doubled production from 50,000 to 100,000 bopd, alongside overseeing the $250m Jubilee South East subsea project and advancing the TEN Enhancement Project. He also initiated enhanced oil recovery studies and shaped long-term area development strategies for both Jubilee and TEN.
A founder member of the European Chapter of the Society of Petroleum Evaluation Engineers (SPEE) and active member of the Society of Petroleum Engineers (SPE), Joel has deep knowledge of regulatory requirements and good industry practices in reserves and resources evaluation and reporting.
Joel has also developed a unique asset management training course tailored to the needs of those taking on the responsibilities of managing operated assets.
