Andel Participates in Ørsted's Capital Increase

24/09/2025

Andel joins Ørsted's capital increase, investing DKK 3 billion and maintaining its ownership stake of 5 percent. The board of directors and management see it as a responsible ownership decision taken to support Ørsted's Danish activities and ensure development power to deliver global CO ₂ reductions.

Despite significant challenges in the US, Ørsted, as the world's leading developer of offshore wind, is a cornerstone in the transition of the energy system to a greener future. At the same time, the company forms a central part of Denmark's energy supply.

Andel's board of directors and management have decided to participate in Ørsted's capital increase by purchasing new shares for DKK 3 billion, thereby maintaining the group's current ownership stake of 5 percent.

"We see it as a responsible ownership decision to help Ørsted secure the necessary development power to deliver global CO₂ reductions. At the same time, it is important for us to support Ørsted's Danish infrastructure and energy production," says Jesper Hjulmand, Group CEO at Andel.

He emphasizes that Andel, as a cooperative, invests long-term and patiently. By participating in the capital increase, Andel contributes both to stabilizing Ørsted and protecting the value of the group's own strategic asset.

"If we remain on the sidelines, our ownership stake will be greatly diluted and lose significant value. We believe that the value and potential of Ørsted is greater than the share price and results currently reflect. By joining, we strengthen Andel's strategic asset – both now and in the longer term," says Jesper Hjulmand.

Affects future renewable energy investments

Andel considers the Ørsted shares to be part of the Energy Production business area.

The decision to participate in the capital increase affects the group's capital resources for future investment decisions on new renewable energy production, such as Danish solar projects and offshore wind tenders.

"Our strategy remains the same: Andel must create the most green transition possible for the money and thus value for cooperative members, customers and society. That is why we are continuing with massive investments in activities such as electricity grids, charging networks and smart, digital customer solutions that accelerate the electrification of Denmark. Electrification is the key to phasing out fossil fuels, it creates a need for more new renewable energy production, and it ensures balance in the energy system of the future," says Jesper Hjulmand.
