Glex Energy now bring screening economic evaluation through release 3.4, introducing a new on-the-fly NPV calculator.

Together with custom asset ownership modelling, Glex Energy now enables users to easily assess the impact of portfolio opportunities across the value chain from exploration to production.

Summary:

The Glex Energy 3.4.0 release introduces several new and improved features to exploration and business development workflows, including screening economic analysis and ownership management as well as improved prospect inventory and APA support. In addition, we have made several improvements to performance across the platform.

New features:

Portfolio view:

• NPV a.t. calculator with user-input discount rate allowing value comparison of assets, profiles and portfolio scenarios, based on imported cash-flow data
• New way to select ownership for assets based on prioritisation of Ownership sets, editable in the new Ownership editor (see below)
• Ownership for profiles attached to prospects handled the same as fields and discoveries
• Support for the new RNB 2026 Excel format for importing production and cost profiles (NCS)
• Support for import of new data attributes in the production profile import (Water, EXPEX, ABEX) - (to be used in the Portfolio view in later versions)

Prospect inventory:

• Added the ability to copy prospects from a source (including public sources) to a user-owned source
• Prospects assigned to licences or application areas inherit ownership for profile plotting

APA licence application:

• Participants list automatically generates ownership data

Ownership editor:

• New Ownership editor where users can create and edit custom ownership sets for assets which can be applied in the Portfolio view, together with official and analyst ownership data. This feature allows correction or update of imported data as well as analysis based on hypothetical ownership to model M&A deals.
• Fields, discoveries and prospects now inherit their ownership model (licensees) from their license, application area or BAA parent.

Improvements to existing functionality:

Portfolio view:

• Company asset ownership information now visible through pop-ups
• Modal retains contents when closed and reopened within a session
• Year range can be set beyond data range to enable flexible NPV calculations
• Profile risking can be set negative and above 100% for more flexible scenario modelling
• ‘Cash flow’ tab renamed to ‘Economics’
• Tool-tips for Economics tab improved
• Data loading time improved

Prospect inventory and APA workflow:

• Made the “Show P10/P90 polygons” button in the info panels more descriptive when data lacking
• Name of imported Segment ID now shown after import from Geox
• Validation added for key parameters in prospects and application area
• Bar chart data can be sorted by attribute values in prospect plot
• Uncertainty displayed on calculated volumes in prospect plot

Notifications:

• Added a data changelog to notifications. This changelog will keep track of what has been changed and when.
• Improved the visuals of the notifications.
• Added a button for keeping the notification window open easing working through multiple notifications.

Map view:

• Label optimization improvements to avoid over-drawing
• Improved the look and feel of the color legend with large numbers of attributes
• Added alternative coordinate formats for polygon editing (DD, DDM, DMS)
• Inspector data types in alphabetical order

Installer:

• Updated the auto-installer with an improved UI and a better installation process. It now downloads the regular installer and installs Glex Energy in the usual way. The installation process still requires admin privileges.
