24/11/2025

SK Earthon, a leading global energy and resource development company, has acquired a 34 percent participating interest in the North Ketapang Block, an onshore/offshore exploration and development area located in East Java, Indonesia. The transaction marks a significant expansion of SK Earthon’s upstream footprint in one of Asia’s most promising energy markets.

The acquisition aligns with SK Earthon’s strategy to secure high-potential exploration and development assets while supporting Indonesia’s efforts to enhance domestic energy production. The North Ketapang Block is widely regarded as an emerging prospect with multiple exploration targets and favorable geological characteristics.

Under the terms of the agreement, SK Earthon will collaborate with existing joint-venture partners to accelerate exploration activities, including seismic processing, subsurface evaluation, and the planning of future drilling campaigns. The company will apply its advanced reservoir-engineering and digital subsurface technologies to improve appraisal efficiency and enhance development planning.

Indonesia remains a key market for SK Earthon, which has been active in the country for more than a decade through participation in multiple upstream projects. The company sees the North Ketapang Block as a cornerstone asset with the potential to support long-term production and portfolio diversification.
