The State Oil Company of the Azerbaijan Republic (SOCAR) and TotalEnergies have held high-level discussions on the full-scale development of the Absheron gas and condensate field, reinforcing their strategic partnership and shared commitment to strengthening Azerbaijan’s energy security and gas export potential.

During the meeting, the parties reviewed the successful results of the Absheron Phase 1 project and exchanged views on technical, commercial, and regulatory aspects related to the next stage of development. Particular attention was paid to production capacity expansion, optimization of offshore facilities, and alignment with international safety and environmental standards.

SOCAR President emphasized that the Absheron field is one of Azerbaijan’s key gas projects, playing an important role in meeting growing domestic demand and supporting exports to regional and European markets. “The transition to full-scale development of Absheron marks a new phase in our cooperation with TotalEnergies and demonstrates our long-term vision for sustainable growth of gas production,” he said.

TotalEnergies’ senior management reaffirmed the company’s commitment to Azerbaijan, highlighting the importance of applying advanced technologies and best international practices to ensure efficient and environmentally responsible development. “Absheron is a strategic asset in our portfolio in the Caspian region. We are pleased to continue working closely with SOCAR to unlock its full potential,” the company noted.

The Absheron field, located in the Azerbaijani sector of the Caspian Sea, is jointly developed by SOCAR and TotalEnergies. Following the launch of initial production under Phase 1, the planned full-scale development is expected to significantly increase gas output and contribute to long-term energy supply stability.

SOCAR and TotalEnergies agreed to continue joint technical and economic evaluations and to advance decision-making in line with the project timeline.
