Worley Appointed Technical Advisor for Western Australia’s Westport Program

21/01/2026

Worley has been selected as Marine and Port Infrastructure Technical Advisor by the Government of Western Australia for its Westport Program, which aims to deliver a new world class container port in Kwinana.

In joint venture with Arcadis, Worley will act as advisor for marine and port infrastructure providing both technical advisory and concept design services to Westport, under the venture’s initial three-year agreement. Construction of the port is expected to begin by the late 2020s, with operations expected by 2040. Upon completion, the container trade from Fremantle Port will be relocated to the new precinct, integrating new port facilities, road and rail connections, an additional shipping channel, and offshore breakwater.

Westport will focus on minimizing environmental impact and achieving net-zero emissions optimising supply chains with larger proportion of containers moved by rail, directly reducing road congestion and emissions.

“Worley, in joint venture with Arcadis, is pleased to be working with the Western Australian Government on the Westport Program supporting sustainable infrastructure development in Australia,” said Chris Ashton, Worley CEO. “Westport will be designed to improve connectivity while minimizing impact to the marine environment, and is a great example of how Worley is working towards delivering sustainable change.”

The Technical Advisor role will be supported primarily by Worley’s consulting team in the Perth office and draw on our Australian and international ports and marine facilities expertise.
