Geoex MCG Launches Offshore Venezuela Data Licensing

18/02/2026

Geoex MCG, a global subsurface data provider, today announced the broad availability of its multi client seismic data offshore Venezuela. This release opens the door for exploration companies to re engage with one of the world’s most prolific yet underexplored hydrocarbon regions.

The first data has been made available from Venezuela and processed pursuant to an OFAC specific license issued to the Company. Today, our announcement also aligns with the very recent U.S. measures easing restrictions on energy‑sector services in Venezuela, as outlined by the U.S. Department of State. These developments provide clearer guidance for international companies seeking to license seismic data in accordance with U.S. regulatory requirements.

“Venezuela is entering a phase of unique commercial opportunity, and Geoex MCG is already on the ground with the seismic insight explorers will need for early evaluation,” said Robert Sorley, President Geoex MCG LLC. “Underpinned by our access to the vintage offshore Venezuelan seismic library, the development of the U.S. licensing framework, and partnership with DUG Technology to reprocess to whole offshore, we’re proud to offer this exclusive regional seismic coverage to the exploration industry.”

Global companies can now readily evaluate Venezuela’s extensive proven reserves and largely underexplored offshore acreage. Modern seismic imaging and basin‑scale subsurface data are critical for safe, efficient assessment of these opportunities, and the new licensing framework now facilitates access to the services required for this early‑stage technical work.

A Transformative Moment for the Basin

Venezuela has long been known for major oil and gas accumulations, from Lake Maracaibo to the Columbus Basin, but modern seismic coverage has historically been limited.

Geoex MCG has now filled that gap. Three large offshore areas, covering more than 18,000 km, have been reprocessed in 2025 by DUG Technology, dramatically enhancing imaging quality and revealing new prospectivity across the basin.

Geoex MCG’s Multi-Phase Exploration Program

The Company also manages approximately 40,000 km of vintage 2D and 4,500 km² of vintage 3D data volumes, which form part of a multi-phase exploration program.

The regional coverage provides companies with a broad view of basin trends, supporting early‑stage opportunity ranking and portfolio planning, including:

  1. Assessing underexplored frontier zones adjacent to existing producing areas
  2. Mapping self-similar structural trends and DHIs with confidence
  3. Reducing early-stage subsurface risk and accelerate prospect maturation

Custom data packages, data room, and technical workshops are available upon request.
