UTEC, a global surveying company in subsea services group Acteon, has been awarded a subcontract for a series of survey work scopes by McDermott International, offshore eastern India.

UTEC will provide surface and subsea positioning services during the installation of subsea flowlines, PLEM (Pipeline End Manifold) and PLETs (Pipeline End Terminations), jumpers, risers and umbilicals which form part of the development of the field in water depths up to 2,100 metres.

The work is due to commence offshore in December 2018 and will see UTEC’s equipment and personnel operating initially on three vessels – the McDermott operated DLV 2000, a third-party light construction vessel (LCV) and a third-party dive support vessel (DSV).

This continuity of involvement in McDermott projects has enabled UTEC to truly align its services with McDermott’s corporate and project objectives, which in turn positions us well to extend our services to cover any third-party vessels that are brought in to a project.”

The award of this work continues UTEC’s involvement as global survey contractor to McDermott which has seen the company provide survey support services on a range of Asia Pacific projects over the past five years including the Inpex Ichthys and Woodside GWF-2 projects in Australia, the ONGC Vashishta project in India, Brunei Shell Petroleum pipelay in Brunei and the Siakap and Kikeh projects in Malaysia.

UTEC’s project management team will be based in Singapore, supported by project personnel from the UTEC office in Perth, Australia. Project support is also being provided in McDermott’s office in Kuala Lumpur and during offshore operations additional logistical support will be provided in Kakinada, India.
