Absolute Imaging will soon begin work on a 3D Merge project in a desert region of Pakistan. This project was awarded based on the technical merits of a competitive test bidding process.
The terrain, located in a gas-prolific area of the Lower Indus Basin, is partially covered by dunes. Tectonically, this data falls in the Lower Indus Trough of the Lower Indus Basin, which was developed by the rifting phases along the continental margin of the Indian Plate and led to the creation of numerous tilted fault blocks, providing structural and subtle structure-cum-stratigraphic traps in the area.
The ~2000 sq km 3D Merge will be reprocessed with an amplitude-preserving Pre-Stack Time Migration (PSTM) workflow. It will provide OGDCL’s geoscientists with data that allow for a more accurate delineation of the subsurface structure pattern, along with inputs to future Quantitative Interpretation (QI).
