Evolve Energy Supply Ltd, a licensed UK energy supplier pioneering energy solutions that unlock access to true renewable energy for Industrial & Commercial businesses, has partnered with renewable energy developer Alaska Wind Farm LLP to supply renewable energy from the Alaska Wind Farm near Wareham, Dorset, to BKUK. The collaboration will provide renewable energy to power a proportion of BKUK nationwide restaurants advancing BKUK’s sustainability goals and net zero ambitions.
The Alaska Wind Farm comprises four refurbished 2MW Vestas V80 turbines relocated from Belgium, installed at Masters Quarry. As an 8MW wind farm, it generates approximately 17 gigawatt-hours of renewable energy annually. The power generated by the Alaska Wind Farm is secured under a long-term Corporate Power Purchase Agreement (CPPA) with Evolve Energy, which will now enable BKUK to access certifiable renewable energy for a proportion of its operations.
James Hall, COO at Evolve Energy, commented:
“BKUK has been a valued customer for many years, so it was logical for us to take the unusual step of directly standing behind the CPPA as the contractual party for this impressive renewable project, exclusively matched against their demand. One of the most innovative aspects is the real-time, half-hourly matching of BKUK’s electricity use with the wind farm’s output, enabling non-standard cost savings while helping to reduce emissions. We’re proud to support BKUK integrate more renewable energy into its operations.”
Evolve Energy and Alaska Wind Farm LLP were introduced by Sustainable Energy First (SE First), BKUK’s trusted advisory partner commissioned to source a long-term renewable energy solution aligned with BKUK’s energy requirements and sustainability commitments. To help BKUK reduce its reliance on non-renewable energy, SE First partnered with Evolve Energy for its ability to secure direct access to a generator and supply their energy through a CPPA. Evolve Energy worked with Alaska Wind Farm LLP, the renewable developer behind the project, to structure the agreement.
