Project Solar Creates 80 New Positions

03/06/2026

Project Solar's Executive Team (L-R): Pat Deane, Emma Walmsley, Mark Wallace, Shanice Arnold, Jake Rocot, Paul Atherton, Peter Bullock, Dave Le Vesconte, Jess Burns, Ajaz Hamid

Project Solar, the UK's largest independent solar panel installer, has announced 80 new positions nationwide as demand for home installations is predicted to hit record highs this summer.

The majority of the new positions will be in sales, reflecting a sharp reported rise in enquiries from homeowners looking to reduce their exposure to volatile global energy markets and rising electricity bills.

Project Solar has already predicted that 2026 will surpass all previous years for domestic solar uptake, driven by ongoing instability in global oil supply chains and sustained upward pressure on household energy costs.

Data from the Microgeneration Certification Scheme (MCS), the professional body for solar installers, shows that 45,239 home solar installations were carried out in the first three months of 2026, the highest opening to any year on record.

Paul Atherton, Managing Director of Project Solar, said:
"We are still seeing all the hallmarks of a landmark year for solar, and the enquiry volumes we are seeing from new customers confirms that. Homeowners are not waiting around to see what happens with energy prices and supply security.

"Eighty new positions is a significant commitment, but the demand is there and we have an obligation to meet it. This is a direct response to British homeowners choosing to take control of their energy future.

“That is something we are genuinely proud to be part of."

Alongside the recruitment announcement, the firm has announced the appointment of Chris Day as Group Managing Director of Project Better Energy, Project Solar's parent company, whose work spans across commercial renewable energy solutions.

The appointment reflects the group's ambition to grow its footprint across both the residential and commercial sectors as the UK's transition to sustainable energy gathers pace.

Chris Day commented:
"The opportunity in front of us, both at Project Better Energy and across the wider group, is significant.

“The commercial sector is at a critical inflection point. Businesses are under increasing pressure to manage energy costs and meet sustainability commitments, and the solutions are there to help them do it.

"Joining at a moment when the group is investing in growth, in people, and in its long-term capability is a fantastic opportunity."

Project Solar's own customer data shows that a typical household investing in a full solar solution can expect to save £1,032 in the first year, which Paul Atherton says is increasingly swaying consumers who might previously have seen solar as a green investment rather than a financial one.

"That conversation has shifted," Paul added.

"People are coming to us because the numbers make sense right now, not necessarily just because they want to do the right thing for the environment.

“Solar has become the smart financial decision for most British homeowners, and this recruitment drive is our response to that reality.”
