Eni and LUISS Guido Carli University today signed a three-year partnership agreement to run joint programmes of geopolitical training, orientation and analysis. It was signed on the LUISS Guido Carli University campus by LUISS Director General Giovanni Lo Storto and Eni Chief Executive Officer Claudio Descalzi, in the presence of LUISS President Emma Marcegaglia, Vice President Paola Severino and Rector Andrea Prencipe.

The first area of collaboration envisaged by the agreement is the Sub-Saharan Africa Project, through which Eni will contribute to training leaders in Africa, providing talented young people with scholarships to allow them to access an outstanding education, through three-year degree or master’s courses offered by LUISS in Italy. Eni has always promoted projects to develop knowledge and expertise in the African countries in which it is present, with the aim of contributing to the growth of the continent. 

Eni will also take part in putting on the Festival dei Giovani (Youth Festival), held every spring in Gaeta as well as in Reggio Emilia as of this edition. The last edition of this festival was attended by more than 20,000 people. It involves high school students and provides them with opportunities to share, compare and learn. Eni will help organise the event and provide workshops to explore the challenges and developments in the world of energy that are set to affect the near future: digitalisation, decarbonization, the circular economy, sustainable development and protecting the environment.

Finally, Eni will continue its collaboration with the university named after Guido Carli founded three years ago, cementing its involvement in the Geopolitics of Energy project at LUISS’s International Security Monitoring Centre. This initiative will focus on analysing the social, political and cultural phenomena that characterise the countries of the Mediterranean and Middle East, as well as their impact on the energy business. These are strategic areas for Eni and the development of the global energy industry, areas in which the company has a major presence in terms of its activities, expertise and state-of-the-art technology.

This new partnership between Eni and Luiss, lends further impetus to the increasingly international reputation of the university, which has implemented a significant Global Engagement strategy: it has 40 visiting professors, more than 1,000 students with foreign study experiences and 700 foreign students at Luiss per year, collaborations with 270 universities in 55 countries and 40 study opportunities, from double degrees to structured partnerships.

The agreement is part of a broader scheme of collaboration between Eni and the world of universities and schools. It sees the company contributing to the orientation and training of young people through the organisation of Master’s courses, funding for PhDs, scholarships for outstanding students, offering Alternating School–Work Programmes and making use of Apprenticeships both in Higher Education and Research and for the Italian “First Level”.

Eni will also make use of the Eni Corporate University centre of training excellence to put the agreement into effect, as part of the overall programme of initiatives directed towards fully harnessing the expertise and talent of young people in Italy and the countries in which Eni operates worldwide.
