HKN Energy Provides East Swara Tika Field Update

23/07/2019

HKN Energy, Ltd., Operator of the Sarsang Block in Kurdistan, has recently drilled and completed its East Swara Tika – A1 well, which was completed in the Triassic Kurra Chine B (KCB) reservoir.

The well successfully flowed 41 ° API oil from the upper two units of the KCB with a combined 94 meters of gross thickness. The lower 46-meter unit produced an average of 6537 bopd of 41.7 ° API oil with a GOR of 1400 and a WHP of 586 psi on a 96/64” choke. The upper 48-meter unit produced an average of 6486 bopd of 41.2 ° API oil with a GOR of 1256 and a WHP of 644 psi on a 96/64” choke. Two additional KCB tests were conducted in the well and both flowed a combination of oil, water and gas indicating the lower two KCB intervals are isolated from the upper two KCB intervals. The KCC reservoir beneath the KCB was also tested in the well and produced mostly water. The well came in 51 meters structurally low to the EST-1Z well which tested oil, indicating the EST-A1 well likely tested a different reservoir in the KCC.

The East Swara Tika field, which is adjacent to the producing Swara Tika field and part of the Sarsang development area, continues to produce approximately 5000 bopd from the East Swara Tika-1 well completed in the Kurra Chine A reservoir, the upper most Triassic reservoir in both fields. The East Swara Tika facility is being debottlenecked to increase capacity to 7,500 bopd. The Sarsang stakeholders are considering additional activities, including additional seismic data, to better define the scale of the East Swara Tika field and to increase production capacity.
