Bilfinger Salamis UK Celebrates Double Decommissioning Recognition

16/05/2019

Bilfinger Salamis UK is delighted with recent recognition in the decommissioning sector, as two Bilfinger colleagues have been successfully shortlisted for the Decom North Sea awards.

Johnny Morton and David Hoang have both been shortlisted in the Young Professional in Decommissioning category at the Decom North Sea awards, commended for demonstrating outstanding professional capability in the decommissioning sector and making a significant contribution to the industry.

Sandy Bonner, Bilfinger Salamis UK Managing Director said:
“It is really positive to see Johnny and David receive this well deserved recognition, and we are hopeful that we will be successful on the night. Decommissioning is a key focus for us, and we continue to invest in our team, delivering great results for clients. They both play a central role in that.“

Decommissioning has been a growth area for Bilfinger Salamis in recent years, and the company has completed multiple scopes for clients, preperaring topsides for removal.

Johnny Morton, Technical Support Engineer, has demonstrated his dedication to the sector, building his career from a health and safety training role at the Bilfinger Skills Centre, through to being a senior and pivotal member of the decommissioning team today. He recently lead a large offshore multi-discipline team, delivering a complex rope access and rigging scope required for decommissioning North Sea assets. This was executed safely and delivered on time within a tight schedule.

David Hoang, Graduate Project Engineer, joined the decommisioning department in 2018 and his passion and insight has proved invaluable. During his first months David has been involved in delivering various decommissioning scopes, providing clear and comprehensive project strategy and scope of work instructions. David’s diligent planning and analysis led to the lead time of one project reducing significantly.

Johnny Morton said:
“I am delighted to have been nominated for this award. Having worked with Bilfinger from the beginning of my career, the hardwork I have put in to continuously developing my skills and keeping up with sector developments, as well as the dedication the company has shown me, has been instrumental in achieving this nomination.“

David Hoang added:
“It’s an exciting time to be involved in decommissioning, with lots of work to be done and innovations to explore. Being nominated for this award is great validation that I’m moving in the right direction within decommissioning and utilising my skills and knowledge to make a significant impact within a great decommissioning team.”
