Enefit Green Polish solar parks show good production results

17/08/2019

Eesti Energia's renewable energy company Enefit Green generated 64 GWh of electricity in July, most of it, 58 GWh from wind farms in Estonia and Lithuania. The company's solar plants, including its recently acquired solar parks in Poland, also showed very good production numbers.

For comparison, 64 GWh of electricity covers the annual need of more than 21 000 average-consumption households.

“I am very pleased that the Polish solar parks that we bought in frame of the transaction in June have not disappointed us. Both, their reliability and the resulting production numbers have been very good. In addition, the sun conditions in the area have been better than expected,” commented Aavo Kärmas, Chairman of Enefit Green.

Currently there are nine solar energy plants in operation in Poland and their production reached 1 234 MWh in July. In autumn, additional 11 solar parks, which are currently being built, will be put into operation. In total, Enefit Green's solar portfolio comprises currently of 26 MW solar power plants in Estonia and Poland.

"I believe that solar energy has come to stay. Enefit Green is taking serious steps towards increasing its solar production capacity and developing this sector," asserted Aavo Kärmas. Eesti Energia aims to produce 45% of its electricity from renewable and alternative sources by 2023, and Enefit Green's solar power plants will also make a significant contribution.

Enefit Green is a renewable energy company owned by Eesti Energia, which produces electricity and heat from wind, water, solar, biomass, biogas and mixed municipal waste in Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and Poland. The company is the most diverse renewable energy producer in the Baltics.
