Xodus adds new wind analysis offering to support developers

28/01/2020

International energy consultancy Xodus Group has expanded its renewables capabilities with the addition of a new wind analysis team.

The new service line, which will be part of Xodus’ advisory unit, will offer energy yield analysis services across all stages of wind farm development, both offshore and onshore.

There is an increasing demand for onshore developments to pursue construction finance leveraged against merchant power prices. Likewise, with a growing number of offshore developers considering the same route to market following the results of the recent CFD allocation round, the team’s key focus will be on reducing risk and uncertainty to provide the insight that developers need, and banks will demand.

The service will be led by Przemek Marek, who recently joined from K2 Management. Przemek is a renewables consultant in the advisory team at Xodus, developing the wind analysis methodology and working on wind resource and energy yield assessments.

Peter Tipler, Renewables Director

Initially a design engineer and aerodynamicist with a small-scale wind turbine manufacturer, he later joined a wind farm analysis consultancy where his focus was pre-construction wind energy assessments as well as development of technical policy and analysis tools. Over the last ten years, Przemek has worked on projects around the world including the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Finland, Chile, USA, Canada and South Korea.

Przemek will be supported by Rob Clayton, who joined Xodus last year from Wood. Rob is a lead consultant in the renewables advisory team at Xodus and specialises in resource assessment and energy yield analysis for wind technologies.

Rob has worked in the renewables industry since 2013 and achieved an engineering doctorate (EngD) in offshore renewable energy. His project experience includes conducting bank grade energy yield assessments of pre-construction onshore and offshore wind farms, including meteorological analysis, measure-correlate-predict (MCP) procedures, wind flow modelling including computational fluid dynamics (CFD) and yield uncertainty analysis. He has worked on projects across the world including the UK, Ireland, Sweden, Norway, Finland, Ukraine, Pakistan and Taiwan.

Peter Tipler, Xodus’ renewables director said:
“Our extensive knowledge and experience enable us to add value and ensure risks and uncertainties are minimised throughout a project’s development. We understand the development process complexities that our clients face and work together from the earliest stages through to project completion.

“Przemek has advised on several major wind energy projects around the world. Both his and Rob’s in-depth wind analysis will ensure developers reach full potential for both onshore and offshore projects.”
