Mr. Toufik Hakkar took up his duties in Algiers earlier this month as Chairman and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the National Company for Research, Production, Transport, Processing and Marketing of Hydrocarbons (SONATRACH), replacing Kamel Chikhi.
Mr. Hakkar was appointed to the post on Wednesday by the President of the Republic, Mr. Abdelmadjid Tebboune.
Presiding over the installation ceremony, the Minister of Energy, Mohamed Arkab, congratulated the new CEO for his appointment to this post, praising the competence he had shown throughout his rich career in the field of hydrocarbons and at SONATRACH.
