Rosgeologia to Carry Out Offshore Seismic Exploration at the Salmanovsky Area of the Arctic LNG 2 Project

19/08/2020

Specialists of JSC Yuzhmorgeologiya (subsidiary of JSC Rosgeologia) have started to perform offshore seismic surveys with CDP 3D within the Salmanovsky (Utrenny) subsoil area under a contract with OOO Arctic LNG 2.

Seismic exploration will be carried out until October 2020 in the water area of the Gulf of Ob along the coast of the Gydan Peninsula and in the transit zone with the receiving lines ashore. The planned volume of work is 244 km².

Within the framework of the project, Rosgeologia, using modern technologies, will study in detail the geological structure of productive and promising strata of Cretaceous and Jurassic deposits within the Salmanovsky license area, extending into the Gulf of Ob, in order to issue recommendations for exploration drilling.

The task of Yuzhmorgeologiya is to obtain high-quality seismic data that will allow the customer to identify potentially productive intervals (strata), determine their top and bottom, identify and trace faults, compare with the strata of the Salmanovskoye field on the adjacent land area; assess the prospects for the oil and gas potential of structures; select and justify the location of prospecting and exploration wells; to confirm previously identified promising objects. The interval of occurrence of productive sediments is 1000-4200 m.

To accomplish the assigned tasks, Yuzhmorgeologiya mobilized a fleet of 6 vessels to the work area, including the R / V Professor Ryabinkin of JSC Sevmorneftegeofizika, which will be used as a source of seismic signal excitation, as well as a pinger vessel, a base vessel and three vessels spreader. To operate in extreme shallow water, specialized small vessels will be used as a source of elastic vibrations.
