Aeon Announces Student Intern Opportunity

Aeon is an integrated subsurface data management software, which offers an efficient and intuitive solution to knowledge management and visualisation of geoscience data. Through their enterprise licence platform PROEX, the company offer a cloud-based solution to manage and evaluate a range of data types including geospatial, well and core data which are securely stored and can be easily accessed by local or remote teams. Accessing varied data in a single software – without the need for traditional importing or exporting – has a significant and positive impact on user efficiency and allows for fully informed analysis and decision making.

Aeon launched the Beta version of the Public Data Repository (PDR) in early May 2021, using their software to host and integrate public domain data, providing a free-to-access platform for their usership to harness the breadth of subsurface data available on the UK Continental Shelf (UKCS). Aeon are now working towards a full launch in July/August 2021, which will include additional functionality and a number of additional datasets.

STUDENT INTERNSHIP – SCOPE OF WORK

The position will run over 2-3 months starting June 2021 and would suit an undergraduate studying a geoscience degree. A full scope of work will be provided to interested candidates, but will include:

  • Review and Quality Control of subsurface/geoscience datasets.
  • Conditioning of various subsurface/geoscience datasets.
  • Data loading and visualisation.
  • Support marketing of the PDR.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE FOR INTERN

Aeon believe this opportunity provides the following professional experience:

  • Exposure to & working with a variety of subsurface/geoscience datasets, from well to regional scale.
  • Application of these datasets to various industries – O&G, CCS, geothermal, wind, etc.
  • Experience in using a cloud-based geoscience data management and visualisation software.

DESIRED ATTRIBUTES

All applicants are welcome, but the following attributes would be advantageous:

  • Appreciation/enthusiasm for various geoscience disciplines (e.g. geology/geophysics/petrophysics).
  • Comfortable working with large datasets and attention to detail.
  • Good communicator and willing to share ideas.

LOCATION AND REMUNERATION

  • The role will be based in Aberdeen (flexible between home and office, based on government guidelines)
  • The role is for 3 days per week and is a paid position. Full details will be provided to interested candidates.
