Farmout Opportunity: Southern Gas Basin - Netherlands

15/04/2024

JETEX Petroleum is seeking an industry partner to join it in a shallow water, high potential gas resource play area in Blocks P8b and P10c.

A high potential gas resource play area with four mapped carbonate prospects defined on 3D data of Carboniferous Dinantian-age with Namurian sands offering a secondary objective.

The Opportunity

  • JETEX Petroleum holds two licences in the in the shallow waters of the Netherlands sector of the prolific Southern North Sea Gas Basin
  • The two licences are P8b and P10c and held by JETEX as operator holds a 60% Working Interest with Dutch State Participant EBN holding 40%
  • JETEX has developed a high potential gas resource play area with four mapped carbonate prospects of Carboniferous Dinantian-age, defined on 3D data, the Namurian sands offer a secondary objective
  • The potential reserve size would warrant a stand-alone development
  • JETEX has reprocessed 415km sq km 3D seismic through pre-stack depth migration and 454km 2D seismic to satisfy all pre-drilling work programme requirements

Block P10c

  • JETEX Petroleum 60% (Operator), EBN 40%
  • Effective Date: 21 July 2016
  • Area: 172.7 sq km (following 76.7 sq km relinquishment)
  • Work Obligations: Reprocess 400 sq km of 3D seismic data (completed) and drill discretionary 4,000m well

Block P8c

  • JETEX Petroleum 60% (Operator), EBN 40%
  • Effective Date: 7 October 2016
  • Area: 104.78 sq km
  • Work Obligations: Drill discretionary 4,250m well (may be waived)

The Ministry of Energy has also conveyed that it may combine the two licences with a single well commitment on request.

Exploration Activities

  • There has only been one Dinantian test drilled on the Winterton High, ENI’s 53/14a-2 in the UK sector. It failed to reach internal amplitude anomalies
  • Several shallower wells have been drilled providing good drilling and velocity control to the Carboniferous
  • Other offshore Dinantian tests have been drilled to the south on the northern dipping London-Brabant Massif where the Dinantian is in a platform shelf facies
  • The deepest well in P10c is P10-01 which was drilled in 1969 to a TD of 2,696m in the Upper Carboniferous

There are two large 3D surveys covering P10c and P8b:

  • The 415 sq km P10c 3D survey acquired by PGS in 1999 and reprocessed by JETEX in 2016-2017
  • The 400 sq km P8b 3D survey acquired more recently in 2008 and has not been reprocessed due to its excellent quality

Petroleum Geology

The Winterton High in Dinantian times is interpreted to have been a shallow marine carbonate platform separated from the London-Brabant Massif to the south by a structurally low trough. The High is bordered by deeper water marine shales and thin carbonates.

This shallow Winterton High provided the platform for carbonate build-ups mapped on seismic and then remained a positive structural feature through Permo-Trias times with individual stratigraphic units thinning or pinching out on to the High.

The primary source rock is the high gamma Lower Namurian Geverik Shale which overlies and onlaps the Dinantian and has TOC values up to 12%. In Block P10c, thick Geverik sections are fault-juxtaposed directly against the Dinantian carbonates. Migration paths are thus well defined.

The Dinantian is overlain by a minimum 1,300m of Geverik and younger Namurian shales which provide the seal.

The reservoir objectives comprise Carboniferous Dinantian Carbonates on the Winterton High that straddles the Netherlands-UK median line, Namurian stacked sandstones, and the Permian Rotliegend (Schlochteren) massive sandstone.

The mapped Dinantian build-ups are closely analogous to those of the Caspian.

Block P10c prospects are further enhanced by major horst faulting and constitute a cluster of unique karstification prospects in the Southern North Sea.

Dataroom & Timing

JETEX invites expressions of interest from a suitably qualified company, or group of companies. Potential farminees will be granted access to a VDR upon signing of a Confidentiality Agreement.

Parties executing a CA will be invited to an online Management Presentation and Technical Deep-dive Presentation.
